AEML COMMISSIONS SYNTHETIC ESTER OIL-BASED TRANSFORMER

AEML commissioned this in record time of 15 days by taking all required safety measures in current pandemic situation...

Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited (AEML) has recently commissioned India’s first Synthetic Ester Oil filled 220kV, 125MVA capacity power transformer in its Mumbai Transmission network at 220kV Borivali EHV substation. According to the company, unlike conventional mineral oil filled transformer, Synthetic Ester Oil transformer has higher fire point (>300 deg.C), low heat of combustion (30.8 MJ/kg). Moreover, it offers enhanced fire safety, better performance at higher temperature and prolonged life of insulation paper.

Further, its oil has better biodegradability – that means it is an environment-friendly oil. Considering this, Ester Oil Transformer is the best suitable for city like installation. Along with that it has other additional features like – Resin Impregnated Paper (RIP) bushings, Vacuum OLTC (On Load Tap Changer) that improves reliability significantly.

This augmentation of Transformation capacity at Borivali EHV substation, will strengthen Transmission & Distribution (T&D) infrastructure, to meet incremental load growth in and around Borivali area, maintain reliable/quality power supply and availability of transmission system at desired level.

Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd is an integrated Power utility, having presence in Generation, Transmission and Distribution verticals in Mumbai Power system. Its Transmission Division operates eight 220kV Extra High Voltage (EHV) Substations with an aggregate transformation capacity of 3,250 MVA and approximately 572 ckt. kms of 220kV lines. Five out of these eight EHV Substations are new technology vertically designed, compact Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) based EHV Substations.
