Analysis Of Grid-Connected Photovoltaic Systems

Conventionally, grid connected photovoltaic energy conversion systems are composed of a DC-DC converter and an inverter. The DC-DC converter is controlled to track the maximum power point of the photovoltaic array and the inverter is controlled to produce current in such a way that the system current has low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and it is in phase with the utility voltage. The efficiency of the conventional system is low because the DC-DC converter and the inverter are connected in series. The purpose of this article is to design a photovoltaic generation system for connection in a three-phase system using only a DC/AC inverter... - Dr. L Ashok Kumar

Coating India’s Rooftops with Solar Photovoltaics

It is a known fact that India is a rarest of the countries rich with sunlight radiation and offers the best hope to revolutionise solar energy in the world. It receives about 5,000 trillion kWh of radiation annually. For every square kilometre 50 MW of solar power can be commissioned that can yield average annually 42.5 GWh of electricity assuming present PV cell efficiency of 15%. - Jaideep N Malaviya

Inspecting Roof Mounted Solar Panels

The sales of solar panels are soaring, which help in reducing CO2 emissions at electricity plants. Over a time solar panels may develop defects that can be easily fixed if detected on time, but can cause a severe drop in energy production and in some cases even start a fire if left unchecked. That is why more and more solar panel installers cooperate with experienced thermographers – that offer regular thermal imaging inspections to ensure the safety and effective deployment of solar systems...
