
Electrical Research and Development Association has achieved significant national recognition with two prestigious awards, reaffirming its leadership in research, innovation, engineering services, and technology development for India’s power and electrical sector.
ERDA has been recognised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as Best Patent Portfolio (2020–25) – Runner Up in the category of R&D Institutes and has also been named among the Top 30 IP-Driven Organisations for 2025. The honour was conferred at an award ceremony held on 17 December 2025 in New Delhi. This recognition highlights ERDA’s strong research & innovation-driven culture, effective execution of collaborative R&D projects, and focused technology development efforts, resulting in the creation of impactful Intellectual Property.
ERDA’s growing patent portfolio covers several advanced technologies, including Epoxy nanocomposite insulation materials for medium and high voltage equipment, Advanced corrosion-resistant paint compositions, Automatic solar panel cleaning systems, Silver and carbon nanotube composite contact tips for switchgear, Voltage tester devices and voltage presence indicators for enhanced electrical safety, Anti-dust and self-clearing coatings for solar PV panels, and Reversible aluminium-ion battery energy storage technology.

In another notable achievement, ERDA was conferred the IEI Industry Excellence Award 2025 by The Institution of Engineers (India) on 19th December at NIT Durgapur for its exemplary overall performance in the category of Engineering Services and Consultancy. This marks the second consecutive year that ERDA has received this honour, underscoring its consistent excellence in delivering high-impact engineering solutions, advanced technical services, and expert consultancy.
Together, these recognitions reflect ERDA’s robust technical capabilities, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and the unwavering commitment of its multidisciplinary team towards advancing research, innovation, and professional excellence in the electrical and power sector.
