Siemens Energy and Siemens Gamesa to Become Omterra

Siemens Energy has begun preparations to transition to an independent brand, with Siemens Energy and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy set to operate under a single name and brand umbrella, Omterra. The rebranding process is scheduled to begin later this year and will be implemented in stages.

The company said the move follows the 2020 spin-off from Siemens AG and the time-limited licence agreement governing the use of the Siemens brand. Siemens Energy said it is now well positioned to establish an independent identity as it pursues growth plans worldwide.

Under the new structure, Siemens Energy and Siemens Gamesa will be united under the Omterra name. It said the new brand reflects its global presence, technological expertise and commitment to contributing to reliable energy supplies worldwide.

Christian Bruch, CEO of Siemens Energy, said the company has developed a strong standing since its spin-off and that the time-limited nature of the existing brand agreement makes the transition to an independent brand appropriate.

The company emphasised that the strategic direction of the business will remain unchanged for customers, business partners and employees. The transition will focus on the corporate identity while maintaining the business approach and relationships.

Siemens Gamesa, which has been active in the wind energy sector for more than 40 years, has installed more than 150 GW of wind capacity globally across onshore and offshore markets and services.

Omterra is intended to establish a unified identity for the company’s energy technology activities while supporting its international business operations and future growth.
