MOIL’s Manganese Ore Production Grows

The state-owned Manganese Ore (India) Limited (MOIL) has achieved manganese ore production of 1.45 lakh tonnes in July 2025, marking an impressive growth of 11.4% over the Corresponding Period Last Year (CPLY), despite adverse weather conditions.

Despite heavy rainfall, MOIL has demonstrated strong operational momentum during April–July 2025, with production at 6.47 lakh tonnes (7.8% growth y-o-y) and exploratory drilling of 43,215 meters. Sales during the period stood at 4.53 lakh tonnes, compared to 5.02 lakh tonnes during the CPLY.

In the Indian power sector, manganese is used primarily for the production of high-strength steel used in infrastructure and equipment, and is an increasingly important material in renewable energy storage batteries.

MOIL is a Schedule “A” Miniratna Category-I company. It was originally incorporated as Manganese Ore (India) Limited on 22nd June, 1962. At present, MOIL operates its underground and opencast mines located in the Nagpur and Bhandara districts of Maharashtra and Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh.
