SAUBHAGYA launched in Madhya Pradesh

A total of approximately 45 lakh un-electrified households of Madhya Pradesh are proposed to be included under the present DDUGJY and Saubhagya Schemes.

The Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (SAUBHGAYA) was launched in Madhya Pradesh on 22nd December 2017, by R K Singh, Union Minister of State (IC) for Power and New & Renewable Energy and Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. A total of approximately 45 lakh un-electrified households of Madhya Pradesh are proposed to be included under the present DDUGJY and Saubhagya Schemes. With the launch of the scheme, 5000 new electricity connections were released in Rewa district. Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli HarGhar Yojana (SAUBHAGYA) is a Scheme launched to achieve universal household electrification in all parts of the Country at a cost of Rs. 16,320 crore including Gross Budgetary Support (GBS) of Rs. 12,320 Crore from Government of India. All States and Union Territories of the Country are required to complete household electrification in their respective jurisdiction by 31st March 2019.

The launch ceremony was held in the august presence of Paras Chandra Jain, Minister, Energy and New & Renewable Energy, Madhya Pradesh, Narottam Mishra, Minister, Water Resources, Madhya Pradesh, Shri Rajendra Shukla, Minister, Commerce & Industry, Madhya Pradesh, A. K. Verma, Joint Secretary (Distribution) MoP, J. N. Swain Joint Secretary (MNRE) MoP and other senior officers representing the Ministry of Power and the State Government.
