Today India holds a massive power line infrastructure and it is expanding further. Keeping the robust system functional to supply seamless power continuously to all users is not an easy task. The frontline people, who are engaged 24X7 to maintain the system reliably, obviously serving a great cause for the comfort, productivity enhancement and growth of our nation.
I highly appreciate the cause behind organizing the recent event by Central Electricity Authority (CEA) to recognize the exemplary contributions of linemen from Tata Power’s DISCOMs in Odisha and Delhi. Tata Power operates distribution companies in Odisha, Delhi, Mumbai, and Ajmer, serving 12.5 million consumers through its DISCOMs, delivering reliable and affordable electricity to both urban and rural communities across these regions.
More interestingly, in the event, more than 160 linemen and linewomen from over 45 state and private power distribution, generation, and transmission companies across India participated, including representatives from Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal. All of them have been inspired to see people from their profession are being recognized. Obviously, it will motivate them further to deliver their best in the fields of their work.
Established in 2021, Lineman Diwas acknowledges the unwavering commitment of frontline workers who maintain India’s power infrastructure. This year’s event, was graced by Ghanshyam Prasad, Chairperson and Ex-Officio Secretary to the Government of India, CEA, Ministry of Power, highlighted the dedication of these professionals, who work in extreme weather conditions to ensure uninterrupted electricity for millions of consumers. I think presence of at least one of the union ministers could make the event more meaningful.
