India, Nepal Sign New Agreements

Recently in presence of the Indian Power Minister, Manohar Lal; and the Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation of Nepal, Kulman Ghising; agreements have been signed between POWERGRID and Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) – for the implementation of Inaruwa (Nepal) – New Purnea (India) 400 kV Cross-Border Transmission System and Lamki (Dododhara) (Nepal) – Bareilly (India) 400 kV Cross-Border Transmission System.

Ghising met the Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, in New Delhi. Their discussions encompassed a wide range of issues, including the progress on development of hydropower projects in Nepal. The two sides also deliberated on regional grid connectivity initiatives aimed at facilitating cross-border electricity trade.
