SJVN Achieves COD of 75 MW Jamui Solar Project

SJVN has achieved the Commercial Operation Date (COD) of its 75 MW Jamui Solar Power Project in Jamui district of Bihar. The project has been developed through SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the company.

The solar project has been developed over approximately 300 acres of land near Hadhadiya and Kakanchaur villages in Jamui district at an estimated project cost of `342 crore. The electricity generated will be supplied to the state of Bihar at a tariff of `2.96 per unit.

The project is expected to generate approximately 90 million units of electricity during its first year of operation and around 3,522 million units over a period of 25 years. The project was developed pursuant to a tender floated by the Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA), Government of Bihar.

According to SJVN, the project has also contributed to local employment, creating around 15–20 direct and 50–100 indirect employment opportunities. Its commissioning is expected to support the expansion of renewable electricity generation in Bihar.

The company estimates that the project will help reduce approximately 82,250.74 tonnes of carbon emissions. Its commissioning also contributes to the broader national objective of expanding renewable energy capacity and supporting the target of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

With the Jamui project becoming operational, SJVN continues to expand its renewable energy portfolio through solar projects across different states.

The Jamui project is expected to generate around 90 million units of electricity in its first year of operation, with cumulative generation estimated at approximately 3,522 million units over its 25-year operating period. Beyond power generation, the project has also contributed to local economic activity by creating around 15–20 direct and 50–100 indirect employment opportunities during its development and operation.
