Waaree Transpower Private Limited, a subsidiary of Waaree Energies Ltd., is investing approximately `192 crore to establish a state-of-the-art 500 MVA, 400 kV transformer manufacturing facility. The expansion marks a significant step in strengthening the company’s power transformer manufacturing capabilities and expanding its presence across
India’s high-voltage power infrastructure segment.
The new facility is expected to become operational by April 2027 and will enable Waaree Transpower to manufacture transformers across 132 kV, 220 kV and 400 kV voltage classes. The investment comes at a time when India’s electricity demand continues to
grow, creating a need for stronger transmission and distribution networks capable of supporting increasing power flows across the country.
The facility is also expected to support the evolving requirements associated with large-scale renewable energy generation and energy storage. As renewable capacity expands, strengthening transmission infrastructure and ensuring the efficient evacuation of generated power have become increasingly important. The new manufacturing capacity will enable Waaree Transpower to address a broader range of high-voltage transmission requirements.
With this expansion, the company is further strengthening its capabilities across the power
infrastructure value chain. Its portfolio is expanding beyond renewable energy applications to include larger and more technically demanding transmission and grid infrastructure projects.
Waaree Transpower currently has an order book of approximately `360 crore for execution during FY 2026–27, providing a strong foundation for the company’s planned capacity expansion. The new 500 MVA / 400 kV facility will complement its existing manufacturing capabilities and allow it to participate in larger power infrastructure projects across different voltage classes.
Commenting on the investment, Viren Doshi, Director, Waaree Energies Limited, said, “Our `192 crore investment in a 500 MVA, 400 kV manufacturing facility reflects our long-term confidence in the growth of India’s power infrastructure and the increasing demand for reliable, high-voltage transformation capacity. As renewable energy deployment accelerates, strengthening the transmission network and enabling the seamless integration of new generation and storage capacity into the grid will be equally critical. This facility will significantly enhance our capabilities and enable us to serve customers across a broader range of voltage classes and power infrastructure applications.”
The investment forms part of Waaree Transpower’s broader strategy to build a scalable, technologically advanced and diversified electrical infrastructure business. The company aims to strengthen its capabilities to support India’s evolving power sector while creating opportunities across renewable energy, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and grid
infrastructure.
