President of India Ram Nath Kovind (R) during inauguration of the solar plant…

HomeScape, the residential venture of Amplus Solar, has successfully solarized ‘Milan Kendra’, the parental home of the President of India Ram Nath Kovind. The residence where President Kovind was born, located in Paraunkh, a village over 70 km from Kanpur, is now powered by a 5 kW solar plant set up on its rooftop.

The solar plant was gifted by HomeScape to support the government’s vision and initiatives to promote solar. It was installed just prior to President Kovind’s Rail Yatra to his parental village for the inauguration of ‘Milan Kendra’.

Commenting on the development, Sanjeev Aggarwal, Managing Director and CEO, Amplus Solar, said, “Rooftop solar, especially in the residential segment, is an ideal solution for a country like India where land is scarce and expensive. Installing solar at ‘Milan Kendra’ has been an honour for us at Amplus Solar. We are certain this will surely raise awareness and provide a much-needed impetus to the residential solar segment.”

The solar plant was installed within a single day by the HomeScape team, right from site inspection to commissioning, with the assistance of the Discom (Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam), UP Power Corporation and the UP PWD. The plant will generate a total of 172500 kWh of electricity through its lifetime and will help mitigate 141 tons of CO2 emissions. It was commissioned in the presence of President Kovind’s elder brother Ramswaroop Bharti and was inaugurated by the President himself.
