BEE DEVELOPS APP TO FACILITATE SEARCH OF THE NEAREST PUBLIC EV CHARGER

As per the information received from the Ministry of Power (MoP), Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) in its capacity as the Central Nodal Agency has developed a Mobile Application to facilitate in-vehicle navigation to the nearest public EV charger, a website to disseminate information on various central and state level initiatives to promote e-mobility in the country and a web-portal to enable CPOs to register public charging station details securely into the National Online Database without any fee. The web-portal can be accessed on www.evyatra.beeindia.gov.in.   The mobile application (App) can be easily downloaded on both iPhone and Android smart phones from Google Play Store and Apple Store and installed conveniently.

The MoP on 13.04.2018 issued clarification on Charging Infrastructure for Electric Vehicles with reference to the provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003.  It has been clarified that the charging of batteries of electric vehicles through charging station does not require any license under the provisions of Electricity Act, 2003.

As per the data available with BEE, a total of 419 Public Charging Stations (PCS) are operational across national highways in the country. Under phase-II of FAME-India Scheme, Rs. 1,000 Cr. is allocated for the development of charging infrastructure. The Ministry has sanctioned 2,877 electric vehicle charging stations in 68 cities across 25 states/UTs. Further, 1576 charging stations across 9 Expressways and 16 Highways under phase-II of FAME India Scheme has also been sanctioned.
