CNC busbar bending machine with the latest hybrid technology

Today, the horizontal bending machine is indispensable in a great number of industries. It is mainly metal, sheet metal and copper / aluminium busbar processors that appreciate its many benefits: bending narrow bends, closed moulds or insertion at a suitable angle to the bending axis. Rapid tool change is a further advantage in production. An extremely precise, electronic angle-measuring unit is built into each tool. This transmits the measured angle to the controller during the bending process. The material-dependent correction angle is calculated independently and re-bent automatically. This active and automatic final angle measurement yields extremely accurate bending results, even with varying material thicknesses and properties. This significantly improves quality and process safety during bending.

The new 420 CNC-WP hybrid bending machine has a modern press brake control with a 10.4-inch multi-touch screen. Basic data such as material quality, dimensions and angles can be defined quickly and easily. The bending part is visually recorded directly on the display during programming. Operating data such as the bending stroke, the stop dimensions and even the cutting length are automatically calculated by the software and passed on to the processing procedure. In addition, a bending preview and a collision display are communicated to the operator so that bent components can be processed smoothly. This considerably reduces potential insertion errors by the operator and shows them when and how they need to rotate their work piece.

As an alternative to direct programming on the machine, the manufacturer offers various programming software solutions. The bending program is automatically generated from 2D or 3D CAD data at the secondary workstation and transferred to the machine via USB or a network. Functionalities such as step-by-step verification of the bending process with graphic bending simulation complement these high-performance software features.

The bending machine is equipped with modern hybrid technology. The hydraulic system is automatically switched on or off only if the bending cylinder makes active movements. This results in energy savings of up to 80% and significantly reduces noise emissions.

The company Stierli Bieger AG, CH-6210 Sursee manufactures horizontal bending machines with manual or modern CNC controls and straightening machines weighing 8.5–880 tonnes in manpower. With 80 years of experience in mechanical engineering, it produces a range of customer-specific bending solutions and tools every year.
