ERDA Wins Best Paper Award at ELROMA 2026

The Electrical Research and Development Association (ERDA) received the Best Paper Award at ELROMA 2026, an international conference on electrical rotating machines and drives held in Mumbai. The recognition was awarded to ERDA’s Ravi Singh for his technical paper on “Development of Repetitive Voltage Impulse Generator for PD Inception Voltage Measurement of Inverter-Fed Motor Insulation.”

ERDA participated in the conference with technical contributions focused on electrical engineering diagnostics and condition monitoring of rotating machines. Umesh Soni from ERDA’s Electrical & Mechanical Diagnostic division presented a paper titled “Partial Discharge Measurement for Condition Monitoring of Rotating Machines,” while Ravi Singh from the Motor & Pump division presented the paper that received the Best Paper Award.

The awarded work focuses on the development of a repetitive voltage impulse generator for measuring partial discharge inception voltage in insulation systems used with inverter-fed motors. Such diagnostic techniques are relevant to assessing insulation performance and supporting condition monitoring of rotating electrical machines.

The recognition highlights ERDA’s technical work in electrical diagnostics, partial discharge measurement and rotating machine condition monitoring. The award also provides recognition to the organisation’s research and engineering teams for their contribution to technical knowledge in the field of electrical rotating machines and drives.

ELROMA 2026 brought together professionals, researchers and industry experts working across rotating machines, drives, insulation systems, diagnostics and related electrical engineering technologies. ERDA’s participation provided a platform for presenting its technical work and exchanging knowledge with experts from the industry and research community.
