Analyzing the maintenance of a product in advance is not only a goal pursued by Igus as there are many manufacturers of machines and systems offering solution with their condition monitoring tools. Güdel a Swiss company is one of them, the automation specialist uses the Igus sensors EC.M and EC.W for its linear robots.

Richard Habering, Head of the Smart Plastics Division, Igus explained: The sensors measure the movement and wear of the four energy chains used and send the measured values via the icom data concentrator to Güdel’s condition monitoring computer.” By connecting to the Igus cloud, the data is evaluated using artificial intelligence and machine learning. The integration of the analysed data takes place via the Güdel Condition Monitoring System.

Daniel Bangerter, Head of customer care, Güdel said: “With the tool, user can monitor the status of the energy chains and rollers in use.”

Maintenance can be strategized by assembling and evaluating the data received.
