Khargone Power Plant gets 765kV Khandwa Substation

Khargone Transmission Limited (KTL) project has got a boost as Sterlite Power has commissioned 765kV Khandwa substation in Madhya Pradesh that is a part of KTL project. Sterlite Power is one of the leading global power transmission players. The commissioning of Khandwa Substation will help in stepping down the high voltage 1320 MW power from Khargone Power Plant to further distribute it downstream to 50 million households across Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Sterlite Power bagged Rs 1370 crore Khargone Transmission project in 2015 through tariff-based competitive bidding process and is executing it under the Build, Own, Operate and Maintain (BOOM) model.

Sterlite Power has so far commissioned 5 out of 6 elements in the project – 765kV substation at Khandwa, 765kV DC Khandwa-Indore transmission line, 400 kV DC Khandwa–Khargone transmission line, 400kV Line in line out (LILO) and Dhule bay extension. With these elements charged, KTL is already generating 55.55 per cent revenue in tariffs.
