Suman Sharma, who had been working as the Additional Director General of Foreign Trade, has been appointed as the new Managing Director (MD) of the Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd. (SECI) under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, with effect from 29th August 2021.
Sharma is an M.Sc in Organic Chemistry from the Meerut University. She also possesses an MBA from the University of Hull, United Kingdom. She belongs to the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) batch of 1990. She has replaced the previous Chairman & Managing Director (C&MD) of SECI, Jatindra Nath Swain (IAS).
After assuming the new charge, Sharma has been accountable to SECI Board of Directors, GoI and other shareholders of the corporation. She will have to take care of the efficient functioning of the corporation, and lead the entity towards achieving its corporate objectives and performance parameters
