What kind of evolution have you been observing in the Test & Measuring (T&M) instrument market in India (say) in the last 25 years?
The scenario in the Test & Measuring Instruments Industry has undergone a vast change. Earlier Analog Instruments were used for measuring electrical quantities. But as KUSAM-MECO introduced Digital Instruments in 1986, slowly the scenario has changed. As we added more and more Digital Instruments to our range, slowly the Analog Instruments became obsolete. Moreover, the earlier Digital Instruments, using simple A/D Converters, are being replaced by Microcontrollers & Microprocessors that are capable of performing more functions in a compact & controlled size. This has led to the development of Multifunctional Instruments with capability to measure many parameters in one instrument itself.
How is KUSAM-MECO addressing the emerging market demand?
KUSAM-MECO has been the pioneer in India to introduce Digital Test & Measuring instruments. With new manufacturing technologies in all Industries, there is demand for new measurements. This requires development of new instruments to meet the emerging needs. At KUSAM-MECO, we are in touch with such Industries and introduce new instruments.
What are the important areas that customers should consider before making a buying decision of T&M instruments?
There are many types of customers. One category buys only the products on the lowest price – e. g.,government departments who buy from the company who has quoted L1. Such customers cannot expect very good quality instruments. Another category is who buy as per their requirement. If a particular product meets their basic requirements, then they will buy that product even if other companies have quoted less for products with irrelevant specifications. Another category of customers who will consider quality & specifications meeting their requirement & buy such products irrespective of the price. Flatly some customers simply ape the specifications from some overseas companies’ catalogue and buy only those products, whether they need all the functions & features
or not.
Customers should firstly understand what their requirement is – then buy a suitable product. They must also consider whether after sales service at reasonable cost is available or not, or if the instrument becomes bad, they will have to throw it away.
How do you ensure reliability & safety of the T&M instruments?
Our ‘UL listed Instruments are tested at independent Laboratories to conform to ‘UL’ Standards. We sell only those Instruments, which consistently meet ‘UL’ specifications. We emphasize on high safety. For other ‘CE’ approved instruments also, each & every instrument is checked at our laboratory & only those instruments that pass the published specifications are supplied to the customers, hence the customers can be confident of the quality & reliability.
What is the Unique Selling Proposition (USP) of KUSAM-MECO’s products?

How will the end-users benefit from your new products?
By using KUSAM-MECO instruments, end users will get instruments, which will give them years of good service. By getting correct indication of the measured parameter, customers can take proper decisions in their work. It will save time & labour.
How do you manage to offer after-sales service all over India?
We have our service centre at Mumbai and we provide after sales service from our Mumbai Centre. All required standard instruments are at Mumbai, hence we can provide the service only from Mumbai.
